Since we moved here, several great new eateries have opened. One of which is Longleaf Craft Bar and Kitchen. This dining spot located right on Wimberley square has quickly become one of my favorites for both lunch and dinner.

Just like us, Longleaf is committed to sourcing ingredients from local growers and suppliers and offers a dynamic menu that changes with the seasons. Patrons can enjoy a meat and cheese board or other appetizer while they wait for their meal. For lighter fare, Longleaf offers fresh salads, soups, and sandwiches. Diners looking for a heartier meal can order the Wagyu Beef Burger, Sauteed Pork Chop, or Texas Hill Country Quail, among other rotating offerings. I personally love their shrimp tacos for lunch, which are made from shrimp source from Texas Gulf Coast fishermen.

The bar offers many refreshing cocktails, bottle and draft beer, and a wide selection of wines. The scratch made cocktails are often laced with fresh herbs and fruit, making them an elegant way to cool off from a Texas summer. You can enjoy your cocktail at the bar, inside the restaurant, or under the shade of the many oak trees that grace their large patio space.

I also absolutely love a place that has history. The building that houses Longleaf was constructed from Longleaf Pine – hence the name – that was painstakingly removed from a building built in 1912 and repurposed to create the building that now houses the restaurant. According to their website, Longleaf Pines once spanned the entire Southeastern United States and can withstand hurricane force winds and extreme temperatures. Now only a few groves remain, making the wood both rare and precious.
