Today we want to highlight our Director of Guest Services, and long-time friend of the family, Amy Dolan. Amy has been working at Creekhaven Inn & Spa for a little over two years now. But we first met Amy when she and Don worked together at another bed and breakfast in Kyle. Amy has close to forty years of experience, primarily in hospitality, which is reflected in her commitment to guest experience.

As Amy explains it, she loves people and wants them to have the best experience with us that they can. Especially because we get to be a part of some of our guests’ most important celebrations like weddings, anniversaries, and birthdays. She says we basically get to celebrate every day that way. She loves that they trust us to take care of them and does everything she can to really make their stay as enjoyable as possible. Including by bringing your breakfast right to your door “so you can stay in your jammies.”

Amy says that many of our guests are surprised by several things when they stay with us. Like how close it is to town square, even though you feel like you’re in a secluded hideaway. Many of our guests are also surprised to learn that they have complimentary access to the kayaks for cruising down the creek, or to our bikes for cruising into town. Plus, the fact that you can go swimming in the creek. It’s not just for show!

Amy says that there’s something about our inn that both attracts good people and brings out the best in people. As she says it, “If you’re ever worried that there’s not nice people in the world, come stay at the inn. We seem to attract the best people in the world, both guests and employees. The atmosphere brings out the best in people. It’s just so beautiful how can you not be happy when you’re here?”

I couldn’t say it any better myself!

When not working, Amy loves to garden and often rewards herself with new plants from Arnosky Farms or Wimberley Gardens. She absolutely loves animals, especially birds. She is responsible for the many bird feeders that are scattered throughout the inn and has helped inspire the pollinator gardens that attract many of the butterflies and bees that like to visit the flowers in the courtyard. She says stray cats have a habit of seeking her out. They just seem to know that she will take care of them and help them find a good home, even if it’s not with her.

Next time you visit, be sure to say hi to Amy and the rest of the gang!
